Perennial Holdings inks agreement to open two hospitals in Guangzhou

Perennial Holdings has actually signed a deal with Guangzhou Metro Group to lease roughly 105,000 sq ft of space and spend around RMB1 billion ($ 178.9 million) to establish 2 hospitals in Guangzhou.

The model, which was piloted at Perennial Holdings’ general hospital in Tianjin that commenced uses earlier this year, provides ease and cost competency to doctors and medical teams, the company adds.

Meanwhile, Perennial Holdings is also set to develop an integrated eldercare project in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District, that will feature a recovery hospital, taking care of home and an eldercare home.

Pua Seck Guan, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Perennial Holdings, claims: “The RMB1 billion investment lines up with our calculated focus on healthcare-centric HSR transit-oriented developments (TODs), which act as enablers of our healthcare service, and notes our maiden medical care business foray into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Location.”

Situated in the Southeast Tower of Yuesheng Plaza, this will be the first completely foreign-owned tertiary general hospital and specialist hospital in Guangzhou and Southern China. The two medical facilities will have a total arranged capacity of over 600 beds.

Currently, the team has 5 healthcare-centric TODs which are attached to HSR stops, situated in Tianjin, Chengdu, Kunming, Xi’an and Chongqing. Perennial Holdings owns, handles and operates over 25,000 beds in medical and eldercare centers, including 16,000 operational beds and 9,000 beds in the pipeline, across China and Singapore.

The hospitals are anticipated to establish Guangzhou as a “leading medical tourism destination”, attracting high-net-worth prospects from the Asia Pacific area, thinks Pua.

Both hospitals in Guangzhou are projected to be completed in July 2026, forming the initial phase of the Perennial Baiyun International Healthcare City. Under the collaboration agreement in between Perennial Holdings and the Guangzhou Baiyun District Government, the healthcare city is readied to connect over 1.18 sq km at an approximated complete investment cost of RM5 billion. The Perennial Baiyun International Healthcare City is envisioned to be a medical and wellness precinct combining clinical, wellness, research study, training, commercial and non commercial parts, claims the group.

According to Perennial Holdings, both hospitals are going to present a common medical facilities and services method that will enable doctors and medical groups to operate an asset-light basis, without needing to invest in medical centers and services. Rather, they are going to make use of facilities offered and regulated by Perennial Holdings.
